Takara Tomy, the Japanese toy manufacturer, is set to release a new interactive virtual pet based on the Pokémon franchise.
The device, called the “Pokémon Poke-nade Monster Ball,” is a Poké Ball–shaped gadget that lets users raise and bond with Pokémon, similar to a Tamagotchi.
The name Poke-nade combines “Pokémon” with naderu—the Japanese word for petting or stroking—reflecting the device’s core touch-based interaction.
By petting the device, players can trigger a variety of cute reactions from the Pokémon on screen.
Pokémon respond differently depending on the length and speed of the interaction, with unique animations for slow strokes versus quick taps, deepening the bond with the digital companion.
The virtual pet features 157 Pokémon to encounter and befriend.
Seven Partner Pokémon—Pikachu, Eevee, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly, Lucario, and Sylveon—are fully voiced and feature more expressive animations.
